(I)? MOE National Key Research Bases for Humanities and Social Sciences

 

1. Institute of China’s Economic Reform & Development

The Institute of China’s Economic Reform & Development was founded in January, 1996; re-established by RUC and the Academy of Macroeconomic Research (AMR), National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in May, 1999; and approved by the Ministry of Education as a National Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences in December, 1999.

Based on the academic strength of AMR and RUC, the Institute undertakes national and provincial key scientific projects and provides decision-making consultation on macro-economy and social development for governments at all levels and enterprises from home and abroad, serving as a think-tank in China’s economic reform and development.

Prof. LIN Gang, former RUC Vice-President, and Prof. WANG Yiming, Vice-President of AMR, are the Directors of the Institute, with Prof. LIU Yuanchun and Prof. MA Xiaohe, Vice-President of AMR, as the Executive Deputy Directors. Prof. JI Baocheng, former RUC President, and Dr. ZHU Zhixin, Deputy Director of NDRC co-chair the Academic Committee of the Institute. 2. Research Center for Criminal Justice

The Research Center for Criminal Justice (RCCJRUC) was established in October, 1988, as one of the first National Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences. It is the only national key institute on criminal justice in China, covering most research fields and disciplines, such as criminal substantive law, criminal procedure law, criminal evidence law, and criminal legal history.

Up to now, RCCJRUC has established 13 research sections, including China Criminal Law Section, Foreign Criminal Law Section, International Criminal Law Section, Criminal Procedure Law Section, Inter-Regional Criminal Law Section, Criminal Legal History Section, etc. There are 14 full-time research fellows and 30 part-time fellows from home and abroad. Currently, Prof. DAI Yuzhong is the Director of the Center; while two famous jurists Prof. GAO Mingxuan and Prof. WANG Zuofu are serving as the Honorary Director and Full-time Consultant respectively.

3. Center for Ethical Studies

Based on the Institute of Ethics established in 1987 and the Academy of Moral Sciences established in 1996, the Center for Ethical Studies was established in December, 1999. The Director is Prof. GE Chenhong, and the Executive Deputy Director is Prof. GONG Qun.

The Center is composed of four sections: the Institute of Ethics Theory, the Institute of Comparative Ethics, the Institute of Enterprise Ethics, and the Institute of China’s Rural Development. Currently, there are 18 full-time research fellows and 9 part-time fellows at the Center. 4. Institute for the Study of Buddhism and Religious Theory

The Institute of Buddhism & Religious Theory was established in December, 1999, based on the Institute of Religious Studies founded in 1991 and the Institute of Christianity founded in 1996. It comprises research sections on Buddhism, religious theory, Christianity, Daoism, as well as contemporary religions.

The Director of the Institute is Prof. FANG Litian, and the Executive Director is Prof. ZHANG Fenglei. Currently, there are 15 full-time research fellows, 10 part-time domestic researchers and 3 part-time foreign researchers. 5. Institute of Qing History

The Institute of Qing History was established in May, 1978 and restructured in June, 1999. It is a National Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as a national platform for research and training in humanities.

The current Director is Prof. XIA Mingfang, with Prof. DAI Yi as the Honorary Director. There are several teaching and research sections on ancient Chinese history, modern and contemporary Chinese history, history of international relations, historical geography, and historical philology, etc., with 12 full-time and 12 part-time researchers. Leading scholars of the Institute include: Prof. HUANG Aiping, Prof. HUANG Xingtao, Prof. YANG Nianqun, and Prof. ZHANG Yongjiang.

6. China Financial Policy Research Center

Founded in 1999, the China Financial Policy Research Center (FRC) was approved by the Ministry of Education as a National Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences in September 2000. It consists of the International Monetary Institute, the Public Finance & Taxation Institute, the Finance & Securities Institute, the Venture Capital Development & Research Institute, and the Financial Risk Management Workshop.

Prof. CHEN Yulu, President of RUC and Vice-President of China International Finance Society, chairs the academic committee. The current Director of FRC is Prof. WANG Changyun, with renowned economists Prof. HUANG Da and Prof. CHEN Gong as Honorary Directors. There are 28 full-time and part-time researchers; 25 guest researchers from the Ministry of Finance, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Development Research Center of the State Council, Peking University and Tsinghua University; as well as 10 international guest researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, New York University and Hitotsubashi University.

7. Research Center of Civil and Commercial Jurisprudence

The Research Center of Civil and Commercial Jurisprudence was established in September, 1999, with Prof. YANG Lixin as its current Director. The Center conducts research through the Civil Law Institute, the Commercial Law Institute, the Intellectual Property Institute, the Marriage and Family Law Institute, the Labor and Social Security Law Institute, the Civil Procedure Law Institute, the International Commercial Law Institute, the Real Estate Institute, the Finance and Securities Law Institute, the Institute for Construction and Real Estate Legal Practices, the Pawn Institute and the Tort Law Institute, etc.

At present, there are 17 full-time research fellows, 10 guest researchers and 32 part-time fellows, including Prof. WANG Liming, Prof. LIU Chuntian, Prof. LONG Yifei, Prof. ZHANG Xinbao, Prof. DONG Ansheng, Prof. YAO Hui, Prof. LIN Jia, Prof. TANG Weijian, Prof. LI Jianfei, and Prof. YE Lin.

8. Population Development Studies Center

With the Population Research Institute as its predecessor, the Population Development Studies Center was established in January, 2000. In September 2000, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as one of the National Key Research Bases for Humanities and Social Sciences. It is China’s only key research base on demography.

Prof. ZHAI Zhenwu serves as the Director of the Center, with Prof. DU Peng and Prof. LIU Shuang as the Deputy Directors. There are three subordinate research sections: Demography & Population Policy Section, Population & Sustainable Development Section, and Aging Section. Currently, 11 full-time fellows and 7 part-time fellows are focusing on research areas such as Demography Theory and Methodology, China’s Population Problems & Policy, as well as Aging and Social Economic Development. Leading scholars of the Center include: Prof. WU Cangping, Prof. YAO Yuan, and Prof. DUAN Chengrong.

9. Research Center of Journalism and Social Development

Founded in October 1986 and restructured in November 1999, the Research Center of Journalism and Social Development was approved by the Ministry of Education as one of the National Key Research Bases for Humanities and Social Sciences in September, 2000. The Center focuses its research on Journalism and Communication, Public Opinion, and Media Economics; and has three research institutes accordingly.

Currently, there are 16 full-time research fellows and 6 part-time fellows, with Prof. ZHENG Baowei as the Director. 10. Center for Applied Statistics

The Center for Applied Statistics was founded in 1988, and re-established in 1999 as one of the National Key Research Bases for Humanities and Social Sciences. Three major research directions of the Center are: Economic and Social Statistics, Statistical Survey and Data Analysis, as well as Risk Management and Actuarial Science.

At present, there are 16 full-time research fellows and 13 part-time fellows under the leadership of the Director Prof. JIN Yongjin. Leading scholars of the Center include: Prof. YUAN Wei, Prof. WU Xizhi, Prof. ZHAO Yanyu, and Prof. YI Danhui.

11. Center for European Studies

The Center for European Studies (CESRUC) was established in September, 1994 as one of the very first institutions of its kind in China. In September 2000, the CESRUC was approved by China’s Ministry of Education as one of the National Key Research Bases for Humanities and Social Sciences. In 2005, the CESRUC was authorized by the European Commission as Jean Monnet Center of Excellence.

The Center focuses its research and teaching activities on European politics and external relations, European economic and monetary union, European community law and European social policy within an interdisciplinary framework. Prof. YANG Huilin, Vice-President of RUC, is the Director, with Prof. YAN Jin, Deputy Dean of the School of International Studies, as the Executive Deputy Director; and Prof. HUANG Weiping from the School of Economics as the Chairman of the Academic Committee. Currently, there are 14 full-time research fellows and 18 part-time fellows from home and abroad. 12. Center for Studies of Sociological Theory & Method

The Center for Sociology Theory & Method was founded in September, 1984, and reorganized in June, 1999. The current Director is Prof. ZHENG Hangsheng. Under the Center are research sections of theoretical sociology, sociological method, social work, legal sociology, economic sociology, etc.

At present, there are 10 full-time researchers and 8 part-time ones. Leading scholars of the Center include: Prof. LI Lulu, Prof. PAN Suiming, Prof. HONG Dayong, Prof. LIU Shaojie, Prof. GUO Xinghua, Prof. LI Yingsheng, and Prof. XIA Jianzhong.

 

13. Center for Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics

The Center for Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics adopted its current name in 2010. Its predecessor, the Center for the Important Thought of “Three Represents”, was established in November 2002 and was approved by the Ministry of Education as a National Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences in December, 2004. Prof. CHENG Tianquan, former Chairman of the University Council, is the Director, with Prof. QIN Xuan as the Executive Director. Several research sections are established under the Center, carrying out research on Marxist theory innovation, building a well-off society in an all-round way, and ruling party development.

Currently, there are 15 full-time research fellows and 17 part-time fellows from RUC and other institutions. Leading scholars of the Center include: Prof. WANG Shunsheng, Prof. HAO Lixin, Prof. ZHANG Leisheng, and Prof. WU Qiantao.

14. Research Center for Humanistic Beijing

 

The Research Center for Humanistic Beijing was founded in September, 2009. Specializing in subjects related to “Humanistic Beijing”, it is an interdisciplinary research institution as well as one of the Beijing Municipal Key Research Bases for Philosophy and Social Sciences.

The counselors are Prof. JI Baocheng and Prof. CHENG Tianquan. The Director is Prof. FENG Huiling (RUC Executive Vice-President), with Prof. HAO Lixin and Prof. JIN Yuanpu as Executive Directors, and Prof. GAN Chunsong, Prof. WEI Na and Prof. GE Chenhong as Deputy Directors. There are 12 researchers in the Center, taking on all kinds of interdisciplinary research projects.

 

15. Academy of Marxism

The Academy of Marxism was co-established by RUC and the Beijing Municipal Government in December, 2006. Affiliated to RUC School of Marxism Studies, it is one of the key platforms for Marxism studies in China. As one of the Beijing Municipal Key Research Bases for Philosophy and Social Sciences, the Academy aims to promote an interdisciplinary research on Marxism, involving philosophy, humanities, economics and international studies.

Prof. LIN Gang, economist and former RUC Vice-President, is the Director of the Academy. Prof. LIU Linchun from the School of Philosophy is the Chief Expert; while Prof. ZHANG Yu and Prof. QIN Xuan are the Deputy Directors. 17. Key Laboratory of Data Engineering and Knowledge Engineering

The Key Laboratory of Data Engineering and Knowledge Engineering was initiated in December, 2005 and officially approved in October, 2008.

The Key Laboratory of Data Engineering and Knowledge Engineering was initiated in December, 2005 and officially approved in October, 2008.

The overarching objectives of the Laboratory are: setting up a national-level innovation platform for data engineering and knowledge engineering, which is urgently needed for China’s informatization; converging talents to build an innovation team able to undertake major projects in the national science and technology development, thus improving the overall level of information science and technology and information resource management subjects of the university.

The Laboratory is co-managed by the School of Information and the School of Information Resource Management. Research Center of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence

The Research Center of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence was established by the Ministry of Education in 2001 under RUC School of Information. It is a research entity for the technical innovation and system integration of data warehouse and business intelligence engineering. Leveraging on RUC’s research strengths, the Center adopts modern industrial management system for research, development and production, in a way to build a first-class center for database industrialization.

 

(V)? Interdisciplinary Research Institutions

 

1. Academy of Public Policy

The Academy of Public Policy is a comprehensive institute for the research of major public policies from an interdisciplinary perspective, so as to seek systematic innovation for academic organization, and to meet needs of the time and the nation. The Academy focuses its research on areas such as: theoretical innovation of public policies; initiating, monitoring and evaluating major public policies in China; public governance transformation; self-governance; NGO and public services. Prof. MA Junjie, Vice-Chairman of the University Council, is the Director of the Academy. Prof. MAO Shoulong, renowned scholar on public policy, serves as the Executive Deputy Director.

2. School of Chinese Classics

The School of Chinese Classics was established in 2005 as the first education and research institution of its kind in New China. In accordance with Chinese tradition of combing reading with travelling, field trips and internships are included in its six-year combined bachelor and master program, so that students could broaden their horizons and learn in practice. The School has formulated a comprehensive and systematic education program centered on Chinese classics reading. 5. Institute for the Promotion of Chinese Language and Culture

The Institute for the Promotion of Chinese Language and Culture (IPCLC), initiated in November 2006 and inaugurated in March 2007, is one of the earliest research centers set up by Hanban (the Headquarters of Confucius Institutes). The Institute undertakes a large scale of research projects assigned by Hanban and the Ministry of Education and provides consultation for the government and other institutions concerning the promotion of Chinese language and culture. While conducting theoretical research on sinology and China studies, it also offers assistance for the development of Confucius Institutes and international Chinese language education.

The Institute comprises seven main divisions in the following areas: Strategic Studies on Chinese Language and Culture; Applied Studies on Chinese Language and Culture; Study of Christian Culture; Classical Studies; Studies in the Arts East and West; Sinology (Chinese Studies) and Data Resources and Analysis. The Institute regularly holds the World Conference on Sinology and runs a series of international forums; it regularly submits the Report on Strategic Research into the International Promotion of Chinese, and has edited and published the biennial journal World Chinese Studies since 2008.

Prof. JI Baocheng, former President of RUC, is the Director of IPCLC. The Deputy Directors are: Prof. YANG Huilin, RUC Vice President; Prof. GENG Youzhuang from the School of Liberal Arts; Prof. JIN Canrong from the School of International Studies; and research fellow LIU Xiuyan from the School of Liberal Arts.

6. China Disability Institute

Established in June 2007, the China Disability Institute was the very first institution of its kind in China. As an open and interdisciplinary institution, it is committed to become an important platform for both research on China’s disability and international academic exchanges on disability, thus contributing to the better life of persons with disabilities. The Director is Prof. ZHENG Gongcheng from the School of Labor and Human Resources; and the Deputy Directors are: Prof. DU Peng from the School of Sociology and Population Studies, Prof. SUN Shuhan from the School of Labor and Human Resources, and Prof. LI Jianfei from the School of Law. 7. National Survey Research Center

Founded in 2009, the National Survey Research Center (NSRC) is an interdisciplinary university-level research institute. It collects, screens, stores and develops China’s social and economic data in a scientific, systematic and comprehensive manner; researches and develops survey methodology and related technologies; implements large-scale research projects with great scientific and practical significance, so as to provide empirical data support for scientific research and government decision-making. The Director of NSRC is Prof. YUAN Wei, former Executive Vice-President of RUC.

8. Center for Chinese Operas

Leveraging on the academic strength of RUC School of Chinese Classics, the Center for Chinese Operas was set up in October, 2007. Pooling academic resources from RUC and other institutions, the Center undertakes major research projects, carries out research and education on Chinese opera theories, and promotes international cultural exchange. With a distinctive research and promotion system, the Center aims at becoming the most important platform for research, academic exchange, and talent cultivation on Chinese opera theories, so as to engine the prosperity of Chinese operas. Mrs. SUN Ping, well-known Peking opera actress and director, is the Executive Director.

 

9. Institute of Qing History

The Institute of Qing History was established in May, 1978 and restructured in June, 1999. It is a National Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as a national platform for research and training in humanities.

The current Director is Prof. XIA Mingfang, with Prof. DAI Yi as the Honorary Director. There are several teaching and research sections on ancient Chinese history, modern and contemporary Chinese history, history of international relations, historical geography, and historical philology, etc., with 12 full-time and 12 part-time researchers. Leading scholars of the Institute include: Prof. HUANG Aiping, Prof. HUANG Xingtao, Prof. YANG Nianqun, and Prof. ZHANG Yongjiang.

10. China Cooperative Academy

The China Cooperative Academy was founded in March, 2008 subordinate to the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development. Integrating academic resources from domestic and international institutions, the Academy focuses on the concept dissemination, theoretical study and education of Chinese cooperatives. The Director of the Academy is Prof. WEN Tiejun.

11. Beijing Social Construction Institute

Co-established by RUC and the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education in April, 2008, the Beijing Social Construction Institute is one of the Beijing Municipal Key Research Bases for Philosophy and Social Sciences. Research areas of the Institute are: social construction theory, population management, social security, community development, social work, social organization, gerontology, social administration, and employment studies. The Director of the Institute is Prof. JI Baocheng and the Executive Deputy Directors are Prof. SONG Guilun, and Prof. FENG Huiling.

12. Research Center for Humanistic Beijing

The Research Center for Humanistic Beijing was founded in September, 2009. Specializing in subjects related to “Humanistic Beijing”, it is an interdisciplinary research institution as well as one of the Beijing Municipal Key Research Bases for Philosophy and Social Sciences.

The counselors are Prof. JI Baocheng and Prof. CHENG Tianquan. The Director is Prof. FENG Huiling (RUC Executive Vice-President), with Prof. HAO Lixin and Prof. JIN Yuanpu as Executive Directors, and Prof. GAN Chunsong, Prof. WEI Na and Prof. GE Chenhong as Deputy Directors. There are 12 researchers in the Center, taking on all kinds of interdisciplinary research projects.

 

13. Advanced Institute for Religious Studies

The Advanced Institute for Religious Studies was co-established by the School of Philosophy, the School of Literal Arts and the School of Chinese Classics in March, 2009. Integrating academic resources from domestic and international institutions, the Institute carries out theoretical research and talent cultivation on religious studies. Prof. FANG Litian, renowned scholar on religious studies and first-grade professor (highest level of China’s professorship) at RUC, is the Director.

 

14. Advanced Institute for Sustainable Development

In January, 2009, the Advanced Institute for Sustainable Development was set up under the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development. Adopting innovative ways of management, employment and education, the Institute is committed to become an influential and research-oriented think-tank which engages in theoretical research and education on sustainable development. The Director is Prof.WEN Tiejun.

15. Government Statistics Academy

Established in 2011, the Government Statistics Academy was jointly initiated and managed by RUC and National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). It investigates major projects concerning government statistics; carries out academic exchange on statistics with domestic and international counterparts; communicates statistics information to the general public; and provides theoretical and intellectual support for official statistics departments. Twenty experts and professors from both RUC and NBS serve as postgraduate supervisors at the Academy.

Prof. JI Baocheng and Prof. MA Jiantang (NBS Commissioner) are the Honorary Directors; Prof. YUAN Wei (former RUC Executive Vice-President) and Dr. XIAN Zude (NBS Chief Statistician) are the Directors; while Prof. ZHAO Yanyun (Dean, RUC School of Statistics) and Dr. LI Gang (Director, NBS Research Institute of Statistical Sciences) are the Vice Directors.

 

16. National Academy of Development and Strategy

Established in July 2013, National Academy of Development and Strategy (NADS) is an independent university-level research institution. Taking advantage of RUC’s strengths in humanities and social sciences, NADS is composed of three functional platforms for interdisciplinary research on major issues, for transfer and application of academic achievements, and for public communication. The mission of NADS is to form interdisciplinary research teams for in-depth research on important socio-economic and political issues in contemporary China, so as to: (1) serve government policy-making; (2) lead and influence thoughts of the general public; and (3) create an interdisciplinary research environment.

NADS currently conducts five research programs in the following areas: new political economy and China reform, world economy and international politics, energy and resource strategy, social transformation and governance, as well as urbanization. The Academic Committee and the Executive Committee are responsible for making major academic and executive decisions respectively. Prof. CHEN Yulu is the Director; Prof. JI Baocheng, the Honorary Director and Chair of the Academic Committee; and Prof. LIU Yuanchun, the Executive Director.

17. Public Administration Academy

As a comprehensive interdisciplinary research institution, the Public Administration Academy was founded in April, 2013. Through study of public administration theories, models and methodologies, it provides high-end services such as strategic guidance, policy consultation and personnel training for government departments, social enterprises and non-profit organizations, building itself into a key academic platform for research, training, consultation and international cooperation. Its research areas vary from macro-strategies to micro-practices, such as global governance, international frictions, regional wars, ethnic disputes, religious conflicts, finance and currency, and environment protection. Prof. CHENG Tianquan, former Chairman of the University Council is the first Director.

 

18. Institute of China’s Social Development

The Institute of China’s Social Development, established in August 2012, is a joint venture between RUC and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Benefited from the functional advantages of NDRC and the academic strengths of RUC, NASD engages in theoretical and applied research on major issues in social development, in a way to become a comprehensive and innovative think-tank and a high-level research base with Chinese characteristics.

 

19. China Center for Social Science Cases

The China Center for Social Science Cases is a comprehensive interdisciplinary research institution directly administered by the University. Founded in 2012, it is the first of its kind in the country. The Center formulates, collects, evaluates and archives the social science cases of the whole university; promotes case study among all faculty and students; establishes and improves case development, incentive and usage.

20. Public Policy Laboratory

The Public Policy Laboratory was established in April, 2011 under the School of Public Administration and Policy. With domestic and international academic resources, it serves as an important center for laboratory teaching, personnel training, talent cultivation, scientific research and decision-making consultation. The principles of the Lab are: introducing advanced technologies, promoting collaborative and democratic decision-making, valuing international cooperation on key research projects, and sharing resources.

Combining arts with science, theories with practices, and research with technologies, the Lab makes use of visual science, computer science, cognitive science and policy science for the transformation of traditional policy-making process and models.

 

21. Center for Social Development and Management Big Data

Established in January, 2011, the Center for Social Development and Management Big Data aims at storing Internet data of China’s social development and social management, so as to provide information support and knowledge service for collaborative innovation.

High-level researchers at the Center are divided into two groups: the team for electronic data management mechanism and method is headed by Prof. FENG Huiling, with Prof. ZHANG Bin, A/Prof. LIU Yuenan and A/Prof. XIA Tian as team members. Their research is focused on the theory and practice of “keeping social memory”; while the team for computer science technology is headed by Prof. ZHOU Xiaofang and Prof. DU Xiaoyong, with Prof. LU Jiaheng, A/Prof. HE Jun and A/Prof. XU Wei as team members. Their research is focused on the theory and technology of cloud data management, as well as data mining and analysis.

 

22. Academy of CPC History and Theory

The Academy of CPC History and Theory was founded in June, 2013. Leveraging on RUC’s research capacity in CPC History and the support from official research institutes, it is the first comprehensive institution in China for talent cultivation, academic research and policy consultation on CPC history and theory, which refers to the CPC history, Party building, and Marxism sinicization. In addition, the Academy also strives to become an ideal platform for domestic and international academic exchange on CPC history and theory.

Prof. GU Hailiang is the Director, while Prof. HAO Lixin and Prof. YANG Fengcheng are the Executive Directors.

 

23. Jin Tielin Chinese Academy of Vocal Arts

With Prof. Jin Tielin, the famous vocal music educationist, as the leading scholar, the Jin Tielin Chinese Academy of Vocal Arts was founded in March, 2013. It carries out theoretical research, talent cultivation, artistic creation and performances for the purpose of promoting China’s vocal arts and introducing Chinese vocal music to the world. As a national research center on vocal arts affiliated to the University, the Academy systematically studies, summarizes and improves Chinese vocal arts theory, while introducing theoretical works, audio and video products and materials of performances of Chinese vocal arts to the outside world.

1. Hillhouse Academy

The Hillhouse Academy (HHA, aka Gaoli Academy) is a non-profit higher educational and research institution which aims to cultivate future global young leaders.

Initiated by Prof. CHEN Yulu, President of RUC, and Prof. Richard Levin, former President of Yale, HHA was established in April 2011 with a donation from Mr. ZHANG Lei, President and CIO of Hillhouse Capital and an outstanding alumnus of both RUC and Yale, and jointly promoted by many other founding directors.

On April 23th, 2011, Prof. Richard C. Levin, President of Yale, Prof. FENG Huiling, Vice President of RUC, and Mr. ZHANG Lei jointly inaugurated the Academy. Outstanding alumni and over 60 celebrities from educational, commercial and political areas gathered to celebrate the establishment of HHA, and had in-depth talks on its future development. Distinguished guests included Mr. LI Yanhong, President of Baidu; Mr. ZONG Qinghou, Chairman and CEO of Hangzhou Wahaha Group; Mr. Richard Li Tzar Kai, Chairman of PCCW; Dr. FAN Yifei, Executive Vice President and Deputy Chief Operating Officer of China Investment Corporation; Mr. LIU Lefei, CEO of CITIC Private Equity Funds; and Mr. ZHUANG Chenchao, President and Co-Founder of Qunar.com.

HHA is an innovative achievement of outstanding RUC alumni and an integrated social network of prominent achievers in the areas of economy, finance, investment, business management, law, international relations and journalism. It is a communication platform which is jointly constructed by the initial founding directors, and plays a groundbreaking role in promoting the in-depth cooperation between Yale, Oxford, Stanford University, the Brookings Institution and RUC.

Since its establishment, numerous famous leaders in political, financial and business areas have visited HHA and communicated with HHA young scholars, sharing their extraordinary and rich spiritual wealth, including Mr. Tung Chee-hwa, Vice Chairman of the Eleventh National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Founding Chairman of the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF); Mr. FANG Fenglei, Founder and Chairman of Hopu Investment Management; Mr. LI Yanhong, President of Baidu; and Mr. Duncan L. Niederauer, Chief Executive Officer of NYSE Euronext.

In the past three years, HHA’s elites-cultivation program has financed many outstanding young students from Tsinghua University, Peking University, and RUC to Yale University for an 8-week summer study. 2. Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies

The Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies (RDCY), founded on January 19, 2013, is a modern think-tank jointly established by Renmin University of China and Chongyang Investment Ltd., a private equity fund based in Shanghai.

Prof. CHEN Yulu, President of RUC and member of the monetary committee of the People’s Bank of China, is the Dean of RDCY. RDCY has 14 non-resident senior fellows (such as Mr. Carlos Magari?os, Chairman of Global Alliance of SMEs and former UNIDO Director General, Mr. R. Martin Lees, Former Secretary General of Club of Rome, etc.) and 20 full-time senior follows (such as Mrs. ZHANG Yanling, Former Executive Vice President of Bank of China, Member of the Executive Board of ICCs World Council, and John Ross, Former Director for Economic and Business Policy to the Mayor of London, etc.).

The tenet of RDCY is “to be based on RUC and have a world-embracing view, to grasp finance and have an overall perspective, to focus on academy and pay close attention to reality, to offer policy recommendations to the nation and serve the public”.
