Who We Are

PLANET ARLINGTON explores immigration, globalization and environmental issues through an arts and humanities lens. The program is presented by Arlington Cultural Affairs, in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources.

The Planet Arlington World Music Festival is the County’s signature event that brings musical groups who fuse traditional and contemporary sounds from around the globe to Arlington’s spectacular front yard at the Iwo Jima Memorial on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend each year.

The Planet Arlington logo is used to identify compelling arts events presented by numerous artists and organizations throughout the year that address the program themes.

The Planet Arlington program is also used as a vehicle to build community awareness and support for local charitable organizations that “think globally and act locally” to improve the lives of people in the Arlington community.
